Content type sync enhancements and site gallery

Following the release of the modern experience to manage SharePoint enterprise content types, this release will update the experience to manage site content types as well. This update includes a new sync mechanism for content types that moves from a “push everywhere” model to a “pull as needed” model, making it faster and more reliable.

  • Once Standard Release rollout is complete, the gradual phasing out (retirement) of the old sync mechanism for content types will take place through September.

We’re updating the Hybrid federated search

We’re making some changes to the Hybrid federated search. As part of search modernization in Microsoft 365 we’re updating the infrastructure used by SharePoint Server’s Hybrid federated search. As part of the process, customers who are using the Hybrid federated search with hybrid SharePoint deployments will need to update their configuration to continue using hybrid search with SharePoint Server and SharePoint Online.

If you are not actively using or have implemented the Hybrid federated search with on-premises SharePoint, you can safely ignore this communication.

(Reminder) Adjusting Version Retention for Outlook Data Files (PST File Type) on One Drive and SharePoint Online

As communicated in MC256835 (May, 2021), starting August 16th 2021 the service will start retaining 30 days worth of versions for any PST files stored OneDrive for Business and SharePoint Online team site document libraries. This change will prevent cases of previous versions of PST files from quickly consuming available storage.

  • The change will only impact previous versions of PST files stored in your document library storage.

Announcing Communication Compliance cross tenant classifier feedback (preview)

Microsoft 365 profile update: Add topics to user profiles

We’re adding new features to the profile card in Microsoft 365 and beginning in early August. Users in your organization will be able to add topics directly to their profile card in Microsoft 365 apps and services or through Office Delve.

  • Topics are terms that individuals can add to their profile through their profile card or Office Delve.
  • Users can add topics to their profile to make it easier for people to learn more about them.
  • Topics can be skills, projects, and even hobbies.
  • When others search for a term that matches a topic on their profile, their name and profile picture may show up in search results across Microsoft apps.

Migrating admin experiences to the Power Platform admin center

As part of our effort to improve the overall experience for admin operations, we are migrating all admin operations from the Dynamics 365 CE admin center to the Power Platform admin center beginning in August.

Today, on the Power Platform admin center you can already manage and configure your Dynamics 365 instances, manage capacity, monitor usage and perform other admin operations, as well as submit and monitor support tickets submitted to Microsoft.

Microsoft Defender for Office 365: Creating allows in the Tenant Allow/Block List

We understand that, from time to time, you might disagree with an Exchange Online Protection (EOP) filtering verdict. With this update, you will be able to override filtering verdicts using the Tenant Allow/Block List (TABL) in the Defender portal while your submission is being reviewed.

Reminder: Microsoft Graph privacy controls to fully replace the classic Office Delve control in July

Starting July 1, 2021: Microsoft Graph will no longer consider the Office Delve privacy settings as part of the Item Insights controls.

The transition period for Office Delve and Item Insights privacy settings ends July 1, as stated previously (MC251870 April 2021). After July 1st, Microsoft Graph will no longer consider the Office Delve privacy settings as part of the Item Insights controls. After this change, all experiences in Microsoft 365 that are powered by Item Insights are controllable only by the Item Insights privacy settings..
