Admins can install Apps in Meetings

We are enabling IT admins to select Teams apps that can be installed in meetings for their organization. It will leverage the App setup policies, Installed apps section in which admins can specify the apps to install on behalf of their users.

This is rolling out to Microsoft Teams desktop, web and mobile.

PowerPoint Live: Present to Teams from PowerPoint for Windows

This new feature release will bring the PowerPoint Live in Teams entry point into PowerPoint for Windows. Clicking the Present in Teams button in PowerPoint will be the only step you need to take to present the deck in your Teams meeting.

SharePoint and Teams: Folder in site visibly connected to channel

This new Microsoft Teams release will make it easy to tell which folders within your SharePoint library have a Teams channel associated with them. Additionally, you’ll be able to see this right from within the SharePoint user interface. This new feature will roll out to Teams desktop and web.

OneDrive: iOS – Outline for PDF viewing

This new OneDrive for iOS release will allow you to view a table of contents that you can use for easy and concise navigation in a PDF document. Just press a title in the table of contents and you’ll navigate directly to the page.

Set out of office within Microsoft Teams

With this update, end users can create an out of office message from within Microsoft Teams desktop or Microsoft Teams on the web. This out of office message will sync with the user’s Outlook calendar, presence, and contact card information.

The new Exchange admin center general availability

The new Exchange Admin Center (EAC) is a modern and a performant admin portal. This new portal has all the functionality available in the classic EAC portal along with a lot of new features like tenant-to-tenant migration, automated G-Suite migration, and more.  It also features a personalized dashboard with reports and insights that are designed to increase productivity.

Microsoft Teams: Operator Connect (in preview)

Now in public preview: Microsoft is introducing Operator Connect, in addition to Calling Plans and Direct Routing, as a third option for integrating calling capabilities in Teams. This public preview enables Teams administrators to select the operator of their choice and enable them for number provisioning in their tenant.

This is rolling out to Microsoft Teams service.

Exclude specific files from OneDrive sync on macOS

This new feature setting will allow you to exclude newly added OneDrive files from syncing to the cloud by file name or extension on macOS devices.

Exchange Online – New cmdlet to make meetings shorter by default

Last year we introduced the ability for individuals to shorten the default length of their meetings. We are now releasing a PowerShell cmdlet to allow you to shorten all events created in Outlook. With this cmdlet you can end your events a few minutes early or start them a few minutes late for all events that are under 60 minutes and over 60 minutes.

Note: There are some limitations for the cmdlet, so please read our blog for details on how to run this cmdlet and its limitations.

Organizers can lock meetings

Within the desktop app in-meeting experience, organizers can choose to lock their meetings to prevent subsequent unwanted join attempts.

Users attempting to join a locked meeting by any means (e.g. from web, desktop, mobile, PSTN, and devices) will not be able to do so. There will be a message to say that the meeting is locked.
